I will be adding more graphs for all the different tests during the benchmark too. flype and I are working on a better format so it's easier for me to parse and present the data! :)

We have now moved the benchmark results to a subdomain of apollo-accelerators.com, you can now find it here: EXTERNAL LINK

Update : graphic showing bar added.

We plan a HIGH-END Accelerator with roughly 3 times the current performance. With around 400 Points Performance Score.
So in the order of 68060@ 400 MHz performance result.

As reminder 68030@50 scores 11 points.
This new Apollo accelerator will therefore deliver a speed in the order of 1800 MHz 68030.

But the accelerator will have significant higher price.
What do you think about this?

Sounds intriguing.

Personally i would rather see this come to fruition as a stand alone MATX/ITX board, instead of still being dependent on the old machines.

High end sounds good. Could you provide a bit more detail on:

  - what do you mean by significant? Twice the price? 5 times?
  - the FPGA you plan to use
  - the memory type/speed you plan to use (different from V2?)

Thanks

Could you provide a "ballpark figure" for price compared to current board? Not sure what your idea of significantly higher price is ;-)
Also, depends if it would be...say a 1200 version or standalone version?
I imagine a 1200 version would still be "significantly cheaper" ;-) than a standalone board, simply since the standalone board would most likely require a different manufacturing process and contain a lot more componets for I/O?
Personally I would buy a V1200 for ~€350-400 if it would give 400MHz 060 performance.

Hello Gunnar!!

For a genuine AMIGA computer, no price is "too high".... Well, how (nose bleed) high are we talking, anyway?

Regardless. I bought a,
7.12 MHz, 68000
ECS chipset
1 Meg RAM (all chip)
Amiga 2000

For $2,000 (+ 12% tax) Canadian in 1989. Monitor, extra $500 + tax (it was mono, stereo would have been another $50).

(Later, 1990, I spent another $560 for 8 megs of RAM and I needed the GVP SCSI card to put it on, another $300.)

EVERYONE ELSE has similar stories to tell.

This computer, Apollo Core AMIGA, that you offer today,

"400" MHz, "68060 (and then some)"
S-AGA
1 Gig RAM (maybe 2?)

Well, then.... What can I say? That is equivalent to ~$100,000 in today's money (need an Apollo Core computer to calculate the total amount of money that it would, in fact, be).

So throw an amount at us.... We're all "big boys" here. And no one's leaving, that's for sure! (Yes, you've got us right where you want us ;-) .)

I'm sure what you've got is cheap, and are offering "PRICELESS" in return.

P.S. Don't for a moment compare what our costs are to MASS PRODUCED merchandise by competitors, like super/duper smartphones(watches)/tablets/laptops by Samsung, Raspberry Pi or others' offerings... Their merchandise is not what we want and never ever will be able to do what you have created.

This. And for just such a motherboard, I guess 500-and-some US$ would be within tolerable limits for myself. For just such a standalone board. ITX form factor would be great. Taxes would be a bitch, but who cares? :-)

if this is a 'Flagship' you better sign me up for 2...this could be a must have for hardcore users willing to
push the concept regardless of cost... Classic Amiga is fine a choice. This will force the team to push
for a better standalone system....keep in mind Natami is like a fully loaded Amiga 4000 with extras...

Well, If this option is with USB, i'm willing to pay aprox 500 USD for it.

The plan is the create the world fastest FPGA based CPU card.

Our idea includes

Apollo-CPU with speed grade ~ 400 MHz 68060
Internal CPU caches of size Icache=64KB / DCache=256KB
1024 MB DDR3 Memory at 1600MHz
DIGITAL-VIDEO with Truecolor and FullHD
SDCard
SATA-Interface

As price we target 500 Euro

$563.22 US
For me, $720.42 Canadian.

At that price, I will get 2, trying and hoping to save up enough for 3.

Both would be for an A1200. I have an A2000 as well. Might get one for that computer too, otherwise, hoping for a standalone.

Thank you to all of the Apollo Core developers!!!!!!!

At that price i really hope this is going to be made and sold inside the EU. If not, the total cost with customs, import taxes, and shipping from abroad is going to be too steep.

and what about the people who dont live inside the EU, what about them ?. Taxes are a fact of life, you will still have to add 19 - 25% for taxes if purchased inside the EU depending on country

I'm not sure taxes and customs make a difference here. If you produce and sell the card inside the EU, the vendor would still have to charge VAT as the receiver inside the EU is not an entrepreneur. If the card is produced outside the EU, the receiver will have to pay import tax. In the end the customer will have to pay, one way or the other.
