Dear all,

I had owned owned an Atari 65 XE, before I had an Amiga.  Shortly after getting the Vampire, I felt an urge to enable my g'old Atari games on the V4SA.  Then, I searched the web and forums and ultimately, got to the AmiNet page:

EXTERNAL LINK
There are two entries viable for V4SA as a target: Atari800 for AROS and Atari800 for m68k.  Unfortunately, the AROS build was built for x386 and the Amiga version is provided as C source files only.

Therefore, I have a quest for any Atari enthusiast, who is capable of compiling the C code under the OS3.x to maybe create a build, dedicated for the V4SA + Coffin / AmiKit / OS3.2 / OS3.9 / OS3.1 / whatever.

I would greatly appreciate to see my Atari games run on Vampire!  I appreciate any action here (or a comment at least).

I guess the easiest way is to use EmuTOS and freemint, and use this Emu
EXTERNAL LINK
I guess it should work here too, maybe without sound because sound isnt supported by EmuTOS so far

Thanks for the reply, mate!

So, if I understood correctly, You suggest to use:

1) EmuTOS (or FreeMint)
2) with this Atari800 Emulator, right?

Thank You very much.  Will try it tonight/tomorrow as I need to install EmuTOS first.

Release #4 for the V4SA does include EMUTOS.
Press JOYSTICK FIRE to boot in ATARI/EMUTOS mode.

I did!

Managed to copy Atari800 emulator under Programs (DATA partition of the EmuTOS distributed with V4 BootLoader) and it works!

Alas, no sound!

I read somewhere that EmuTOS does not support sound emulation, at all.  If that's so, this is going nowhere, to emulate 8-bit Atari games without sound.

Then, I will turn into Atari emulation under Amiga OS.  Unfortunately, I tried three emulators from AmiNet (Atari800 / A800) and couldn't make them working.  I wish someone could...

The sound is in progress (very slow), if xbios sound PCM 8 bits can be used you should be able to listen something (I not said it is accurate at this time but perhaps you can listen something).
Only PCM is plane, all hardware access can't work.

Then, it comes to my initial post, which is:

1) Can someone compile (or provide compiling instructions for doing so) the Atari800 emulator?

EXTERNAL LINK
2) Otherwise, can someone provide which library to use, in order to use the A800 emulator?

EXTERNAL LINK
In other words, which ixemul library would do and if so, is this enough to run the latter?

Don't forget about the V1200 users...
I never had an Atari so accurate emulation on Vampire would be incredible to explore. Sounds like it is possible now, without sound?

Yes, on V4 Standalone, under EmuTOS via Atari800 emulator, no sound.

I did not check joysticks setup however.

Regarding the Amiga software, I plan buying CubicIDE and play around with the C code myself, when I have some spare time... which could be a month from now.

I will post updates here though.

This is for AmigaOS 4 so the source code should be adapted for AmigaOS 3.

One is, another isn't (OS 3.1).

Funny I was just playing around with two Atari 800 emulators that I use.  One is ACE and the other Atari 800.  Both work but with the latest firmware ACE has problems with garbled graphics on some programs, where on the older firmware it worked perfectly and FAST! (same problem when trying to us 040/060 but with 020 works) Atari 800 runs well but way too slow.  If I set the frame skip to 2 it makes the games playable.  Wish we can get it compiled to run faster.  I do use MagiC64 emulator and that runs amazing, and 100% speed.

Here is ACE if you want to try it:

If you want Atari 800, I can upload it.

Please do Tim. Which do you prefer?
Can you do a video about running Atari software on Vampire?

I ran ACE -- looks a great stuff!

Alas, could not invoke command "1-8", in order to load a game.

@Michal Try Right Amiga-1 thru 8
Right amiga key is the key to using the shortcuts. Right Amiga Q = quit etc.

Could someone take a look at the official Atari Falcon version which has quite a few optimizations for 680x0. can be a good version to port.

Gunnar does this joystick launch only work on ApolloOS? I tried on CoffinOS but only got a blank grey screen.

I Figured this out. It’s actually launched from within ApolloOS.. It was very underwhelming though, I guess I’m spoiled by Amiga.
