Testing the RTG implementation in Aros 68k. More specifically the SAGA driver for the Vampire V4 being developed by the Team Aros.
What you will see in this long video:
Me opening, closing and moving windows around.
Background music while rendering Povray, Cinema 4D scenes and fractals
Playing RTG games
Playing classic games (Switch from PAL to RTG and back)
An amazing Demo made by Flype that use AMMX registers

Seat back and enjoy the latest in Aros development for the Vampire V4.
Have fun

I'm surprised to see AROS running whdload.

To be honest, my experience of aros was always negative, PC versions with deeply ugly skins in vmware. I'm glad it's apparently usable now.

on 68k WHDLoad always worked

you could even use aros roms (instead of original roms) and many games worked

Logical as most games bang the HW, they usually just need the code that read the bootblock, sometimes they use the trackdisk device instead of the HW to read tracks.

The old gnome icons that aros use are absolutely horrible. Why they never change them for something more amiga like ?.
Sure are a lot of free icon sets that look better.

Sane defaults matter. There's a reason why pickup trucks with 50 inch TVs in the cargo bed are only on old episodes of pimp my ride, and not at the ford dealership.

It's not a good user experience if the first thing I have to do is figure out how to turn a bunch of eye searing crap off. The problem is not only that it's ugly but that it's visually confusing and difficult to look at, which makes using the computer more difficult.

Look and feel is a very serious consideration. At commodore a great deal of effort was put in to the artistic design of AmigaOS, even if you don't think so, there was. Their goal was to create something that's extremely clear to read even under bad situations like using RF output on a cheap tv. I'm very greatful to Commodore for this, they save my eyes, they've been kind to people I know who struggle with failing vision.

Whereas this is the opposite. No care or concern, just glossy shiny crap everywhere it can be put, even if it doesn't match, even if it makes the screen more cluttered and confusing. Because apparently the more shiny everything is the more modern and advanced it is?

It has all the sense of a PT cruiser with silver strips glued all over it or a funeral director advertisement in comic sans.

Well, thats your subjective opinion. Way to encourage people to enhance the classic expirience. Some people want their visuals blinged out. Some want minimalistic approach.

A solid core OS with several easy to install/impliment skins sounds like a win for everybody.

Actually it is not true. The "default skin", is usually something that represent face of whole system. People recognize it that way... and if it looks crap like most of AROS distros, its real shame

I do not know what your problem is with the optics of that distro... I like it

It is always the same in "amigaland", everyone wants something different. It is only weired to talk down the work others do.

I know a good solution for you... simply do not download and use it

Problem solved

There will be a official "distribution" for V4 supplied by the apollo team, the rest is up to the users. You do not like it? Then do not use it.
