I will go for the v1200. But I'd like to have a kit with db9s and power adaptor to be able to "transform" it to standalone in case my 1200 stops working.

Nice wish, but since that seems not to be possible, if I was in your skin, would go "standalone". Since they are quite similar I dont expect huge price difference between V4 offers.

@Vojin
I think it will be more difficult to find the CPU connector for the V1200 than the DB9 and power adapter, so I think I will go for V1200.

  Probably Vampires for A3000/A4000 CPU connectors isnt that easy to do. It doesnt mean they might not materialize somehwat in the future.

Quick top Amiga replacement soon - is standalone. For those not patient enough. I suppose A3000/A4000 market isnt that big, but would also need to be known. A500/A600/A1200 was so mass sold, Vampires are a must. And greatest upgrade too ... Its nice there will be V4 for almost all.

Could be V3, but hey, you decided to double the version numbers!

The version number hasn't doubled, what people refer to as V2 in reality is the V3. There was a V2 which never was publicly sold and that was upgraded to become the V2 as you know it. The Team internally has always referred to this card as V3 despite it being marketed as V2.

Thanks for the exponation. However since the number was doubled for public releases, hope CPU frequency might too :-)

Amazing job dudes!!!

Really great for the CDTV compatibility! :)

But... I don't see how it could fit inside, because the 2 bigs and the giant capacitors will avoid to plug it.
Next, because the IDE and I/O connectors are not right angled and will touch the top case. No? ;)

Finally, I don't see anly fixation hole to screw it (standalone) ?!

Really awesome news! I'll aim for a V4 A1200,
having top gear that still uses old connectors,
& V4 standalone to have the state of the Art.

When will we be able to order both and when
will we get the stuff approximately delivered?

Congrats!
A Real Amiga Milestone has been reached!
Lots of Guru Meditation has gone into this:
hair loss was a 'necessary' sacrifice! Thanks!

I'm a tad confused. The PDF document states: "The contents of this document are confidential and intended solely for the recipient. Reproduction of, or forwarding to anyone not directly sent this document is strictly forbidden." Are we supposed to know yet? :)

Anyway this is great news. I'm just a little disappointed that the Vampire 1200 V4 is last on the production list. I had hoped it would be next as per the original Apollo Accelerators roadmap. That would make sense since there are alot of A1200's out there.

  Come on seriously? We've known for a long time that a Vampire for the A3000/A4000 hasn't been on the CONFIRMED roadmap. Don't act surprised that it hasn't been announced yet.

Nothing YET for the A4000.

  If you want to use Vampire in 2017, then Standalone is the best option, and to be honest, I have a feeling my V600 wont get much attention once I get the standalone.

  I really enjoy it, but the second I can order a standalone, I will jump on it, and the V600 will collect dust.

  Let me ask you this Alessandro; do you have hardware connected to your A4000 you really would like to use in the future? Video/TV cards/Toasters etc?

  Im genuinly curious if there is a spesific reason you want V4000 over a standalone :)

@Sean Sk

I was planning to get a V1200, but with the standalone arriving first, if anything, Im more inclined to get 2 standalones, than adding a V1200. Maybe just leave the legacy hardware in its original config.
Again, if you have a towered 1200 with third party hardware added, I could see why you would want to upgrade your 1200.
Otherwise standalone makes more sense.

I have one question to the team tho;

What theoretical ethernet speeds can we get download/upload?
I guess the jpg decoding of the browsers are a bottleneck, in addition tho the read/write speed of the harddisk/SD cards.

Just curious what numbers you are aiming for.

I want a Standalone to put in a PiTop case to have an Amiga laptop and a V4 for my 1200 :D

@Mr Niding

The Cyclone V has a triple speed Ethernet controller (TSEC). That means 10/100/1000 support. This is assuming all 3 speeds are enabled by the Apollo core.

So the hardware can handle high speeds. The limit is going to be in the software implementation (SANA II driver), DMA support and your network.

I think this is the first 68K system with Gigabit support?
