@Kolla
Well, Gunnar seems to be fed up with you. No wonder. The problem with bickering, ranting and trolling quite simply is that you paint yourself into a corner you probably don't want to be in.

What you've been experiencing with MP3 in EP was a normal Amiga behavior. You tried to play 44 kHz Audio on an Amiga that was set up for a max. of ~28 kHz. With the defaults in 14 Bit Amplifier, EP would have taken care of that by resampling the 44 kHz Audio to 28 kHz, btw.

If you RTFM RKM, you will notice that Paula DMA is limited to 28.6 kHz in OCS single scanline mode. This is due to the fact that Paula DMA slots are tied to the video DMA. If the Periods (clock dividers) in Paula are too low, video DMA slots are unavailable and samples will be skipped.
With ECS, double scan screen modes became possible. In these ECS/AGA screen modes (productivity, DBLPal/-NTSC etc.), sampling rates up to 54 kHz can be achieved.

Bottom line: Given that you have an ECS Denise, you can either run an ECS screen mode or RTFM Picasso96 when you want decent sampling rates.

Hint:
makedir ENVARC:Picasso96
echo "31kHz" >ENVARC:Picasso96/AmigaVideo

Hi Henryk,

Does this mean that even regular AGA is capable of 44 KHz audio without using AHI?

I am not a fan of chasing too many things that are done on other platforms (except for 3D/graphics HW routines, like texture and lighting, anti-aliasing, Gouraud shading, etc.)

Sure, why not? AGA inherited the ECS features and improved upon them. AHI is just an abstraction layer on top of the existing hardware.
