Hello to you all, you may be aware that David John Pleasance has opened a Kickstarter to raise the funds enabling him to write his new Commodore/Amiga related book to be titled “From Vultures to Vampires: 25 years of Copyright Chaos and Technology Triumphs”.

We are very proud to announce we are THE MAJOR SPONSORS of this Kickstarter, because we strongly believe this is a very important part of the history of Commodore and Amiga, which being shrouded in mystery, really needs to be told.

David, in conjunction with Trevor Dickinson, will be delving into all the stories about what happened from the time that Escom bought the C=/Amiga assets from the Bahamian Liquidator at the auction in New York (David was there), how they totally messed up and they themselves went bankrupt, and detailing the full story on the myriad of companies that the assets were then passed through, up to the present day.

The book will feature interviews with the people who were directly involved in the story,  many of whom have not spoken about it publicly before.

After 25 years of mystery, the book will reveal all of the (sometimes murky) changes of hands of the IP’s, trade marks, patents and logos that were the subject of many “cease and desist” orders and even law suits (some of which are still current), and how, despite this adversity, the Amiga has continued to be “the computer that refuses to die”.

We at Apollo have been subjected to and sometimes harassed by certain individuals during the period of us developing the Vampire range, and we are very excited that David’s new book identifies and applauds our technical endeavors in producing the Vampire range of products.

Can we please urge you to back this Kickstarter, as we all deserve to know the truth and we believe David and Trevor will deliver the story in a concise factual and entertaining manner.

All or nothing. This book will only be made if the Kickstarer reaches its goal by Sunday, July 19th 2020.

It's sad to say, but I no longer support any crowd funding. I have lost to much money. If it comes out and I can buy it in a store then I will, but due to many other projects not completing I won't be supporting any more.

I wish them luck though.

I hear you but he followed through on his previous offering. I am still waiting for one item I paid for in full from another notable Kickstarter. But there is much less risk with a book as there is no mold tooling involved.

Books are low risk, more so from someone who has already done a successful book kickstarter.

I agree books have less risk, although I have had a book Kickstarter fail to deliver.

Congratulations to them on reaching the amount they asked for though! Hopefully it will be available in shops once written and completed, I will certainly buy one then!
