Thank you

Isn't that a dealer thing? I went to Vesalia and the whole kit is around $650 US. A long way from the original hand crafted price of $150 or so. I assume that is the price needed to bring to market.

This is not directed at Apollo team , but I don't want to hear the greedy capitalistic American memes anymore.

When I got my first AMIGA it actually did come with
- a case
- a PSU, a power cable
- a keyboard
- a mouse
- and some software (also Games)

So the system was complete and ready to use.
I liked this very much and I think that this in general makes a lot of sense.

The answer is either yes or no.

Same is with Amiga ones. Ask dealer if you wish to build your own.
It's true it's no longer made in Bosnia, by Majsta only and has to get certificates etc. as well as team needs a return of work put into a core.

In my book it's fair. What can you tell me of A-EON prices, new Phake 5 or CUSa before it's death. Imagine adding os and ks and video out licenses

Resellers are responsible for their offers not me.
I can give you my opinion what offers might make sense.
E.g offering a complete plug and play system IMHO makes sense.

Also if your read between the lines, then you can see that I offered him to solve this for him - if he talks to me on IRC.

I understand, it's your choice.
this poses two problems for people like me who do not like the box:

- Obligation to pay a box in addition
- That create unnecessary waste

This is not a criticism I hope you understand my point of view?

Maybe there are other solutions?

Hi Gunnar,
I originally wanted my V4SA without a case as I have a Checkmate a1500 + from Stephen Jones. However on reading this thread I have had a rethink.
Let me explain; I can take the V4 out of the case it comes with and still install in the Checkmate case then when the V6SA or V8SA come along I can remove the V4 and put it back in its original case and sell on eBay or somewhere else.
I believe it will be a better option.
But that is just me and everyone is free to make their own decisions.
Looking forward to the email from Vesalia asking if I am ready to pay.

Cheers from Downunder.

The suggested retail price for the V4 including
anodized Aluminum case and PSU is € 549,- (inc tax)

But which price reseller at the end ask for is up to the reseller.

I like the case that it comes with.  It is exactly minimum that is required and should satisfy the majority I suspect.  But I als suspect there will be many in a similar situation as described by Alan.  Leading up to the release of the V4, there were many cases promising to house the V4.  I would consider the following thoughts before badgering Gunnar more on this point.

1) The V4 is sold via re-sellers.  That should be your first point of contact regarding your purchase.
2)  Customers are free to negotiate with the re-seller to buy without a case.  In turn, re-sellers are free to negotiate with Gunnar for the board alone.  This will work.
3) The cost of the case isn't a significant portion of the cost.  If you disagree, again, negotiate with the re-seller.
4) I suspect most people will be more than happy with the default case.    Not everyone wants to Checkmate it or have a CNC machine. So for many it would be welcomed.

But I do imagine that a naked (caseless) V4 being an option in the future.

To be honest, the case is rather boring and very unattractive. Hopefully the board will be sold without it.

Board can easily fit that, a500 new mold and checkmate, other two hard to get.

Would love more options, not board bare sell until it's mini itx, Atx etc.

Have you seen the case in real live?

If it is what I have seen at the Alchimie in November, I agree with you. About the final price, it looks to came from another world. Not for me.

Good points.

The V4 should definitely be sold with a case - as Gunnar said, it should be a fully operable machine when it arrives. I dislike the PS4 case - and I can change it if I want, but I'm not going to NOT buy it because I have to pay for a case I don't like. but I bet that 90+% of people will want a V4 case of some sort, and the provided one will be more than adequate.

IMO it's a trivial issue and the hardware devs shouldn't be bothered with these types of questions. Did C= supply A1200 boards without cases at retail? No. The V4 is a stand along machine, not an accelerator.

Uhm, what about the tons of hardware out there, like motherboards, which are sold without cases?

What if I have a new A1200 case lying around which I bought for exactly this setup in mind?

Having that extra case is a total waste of material and a mess for the environment.

So your point, Kenji, is a bit blindsighted, don't you think?

Why so much aggression?

If you read here carefully then you see that the poster
was offered a V4 without case if he would have contacted us on IRC.
We always try our best to support all people.

Also is was clearly stated that resellers have the option to order V4 without case - so I really wonder why one need to argue about this here?
