Software to use any and all of the new features (SAGA, AMMX, 68080) is the real issue at this point.

Need a compiler that will produce 68080 target code, and make use of AMMX. Need documentation for people to make use of the new SAGA capabilities, etc.

Yes, that might be problematic. At least to use 080. If would be cool if the Vampire team could make an example how to use Pamela. I don't think that part would be that demanding. Some shell player that play MP3 16 bit for example. I think it would be a huge selling point.

Is it right that SAGA only work with OCS, ECS games for now?
I'm talking stand alone version of cause.

AHI driver that is Pamela and 16-bit would be enough.
  Wait and see.

Note that you have purchased product with beta FPGA core and software.

  HW limitations:

    * Ethernet: work is in progress, driver is being written.
        * USB: support for some input devices like USB mice and keyboards. Support
for more is in progress. Compatibility list available on WiKi ( EXTERNAL LINK )
        * Joystick : Status support of AMIGA Joy (like Competition Pro)
        * OCS/AGA: Many games and demos work perfectly, but not 100%.
        * Boot drives: boot from IDE/CF, microSD card for data exchange. Bootable
        microSD is in roadmap.

SW limitations are as same as with about V2 Vamps, no a lot 080 AMMX sw, no Pamela driver, no preinstalled licensed KS or OS. Which might change in future, too.

Gladly FPGA core and software development can annihilate that list.

Then, what’s the best way for obtaining AROS Kickstart Replacement.

I once asked on another forum, but the instructions I got were complicated.

BTW does anyone know which mouse an keyboard from the support listin particular, were included in the Neuss pack?

Since you cannot boot Vamp now,"the hard way" is your only option now.

Once you get any KS you like (.rom file) or AROS KS, you can boot AmigaOS 3.x or AROS and do the magic of both core, drivers update via simple methods and even ks temporary mapping.

Such software does exists already.
Eagle player supports 16bit using PAMELA

im not sure in what form and shape you need the aros roms, but their latest compiles can be downloaded here:
EXTERNAL LINK  navigate to the subdir with the latest datum and choose your preffered archive format.
the files contain a whole aros installation. but the roms are in boot/amiga: aros-rom.bin and aros-ext.bin.

alternatively

EXTERNAL LINK has
amiga-m68k-boot-floppy.lha which contains compressed adf, so maybe thats too complicated. also there
amiga-m68k-boot-iso - contains iso and the roms are again in boot/amiga dir.

@wawa, thanks. I can confirm that AROS CF-image from the

/nightly/aros/2019/10/15/amiga-m68k-9.1.0-2.32/aros-amiga-m68k-boot.hdf

works...

V4SA without any CF-card installed, after power on:

While I do dislike AHI from a technical standpoint  I am aware that a lot of software depends on it. An AHI driver for Pamela is on my TODO-List, yet not at a high priority right now.

To get at least some software using the 16 Bit mode on V4 Standalone, I've just uploaded RiVA 0.54 to Aminet. If started with the HQAUDIO argument (either as ToolType or from CLI), RiVA will now play in 14 Bit on V2 as well as on other classic Amigas that are fast enough. With Pamela detected, HQAUDIO automatically resorts to direct 16 Bit output on V4 standalone.

Also, I've provided an example for Pamela 16 Bit usage here: EXTERNAL LINK
It's a simple commandline AIFF player based on Eagleplayer's AIFF plugin. It supports common uncompressed AIFF files as well as AIFC and Tavenard's ADP format.

Due to time constraints, the updates I've done to Eagleplayer are still unreleased (including the Pamela16 plugin).

Thank you Henryk.
An AHI driver would surely enable more software.

And I do agree wit you to 100%.
AHI is PC coding style - not AMIGA style.
What I liked about AMIGA was solving problem elegant with cleverness - while in contrast to this solutions on the PC often were unelegant and bruteforce only. Looking at AHI technically it feels unelegant and bruteforce and not smart like AMIGA solutions used to be.

Thank you for the info. That is great to know. I Guess Pamela have some wheels after all ;)

AHI is a kind of standard

Software can directly use the soundchip. Of course it needs to be dapted

or it uses something like AHI

Simo, Wawa,

So basically grabbing that roms and iso from Wawa's links and figuring out how to add the aros ROM (I read somewhere there are 2 ROM slots in the V4) I can boot my V4 SA to a system as in Simo's screens?

Can we expect the 16 bit capable players mentioned above in the (final) R55? Together with the newer Sysinfo?

@Tim. V4SA comes with the AROS-rom. Writing that .hdf -image to the CF-card, which Wawa pointed, you can boot directly to the Wanderer.

Also Maprom-tool will be available soon. With the maprom-tool you can map anything (1.3, 3.1, 3.X, 3.1.4, EmuTOS, Logica or even another AROS).

@simo
Do the v4 ownera boot their coffin or whatever currently frpm aros rom?

When powering on it boots with AROS-rom. After that with maprom they can map which rom they like (or have). For Coffin AOS-rom is needed.

If you mean A34, I heard that some AOS roms have been bought.

As far as I know my V4 came with a 3.1 ROM (incl serial on a sticker).

@tim

AROSBootstrap works now with V4SA, but it does not detect all fastram, because so far larger chipmem detection is only committed to the GitHub. I assume this will be updated soon. Aros-ROM version which is delivered with V4SA does detects the entire fast memory area.

Nevertheless, that AROSBootstrap works with AOS-rom, at the moment vampiregfx.card beta version still lacks of support to change screenmode and even if it would work, it's still very slow. Once these are fixed, you can enable it from S-S like this:

AROSBootstrap ROM aros.hunk.gz vampiregfx.card

Yes, current nightly builds do not work on V2, because IDE hangs during boot. Root cause for this is still unresolved.

Is it possible to have some multiple S-S choice on boot incl. AROS as choice instead of adding AROS line on top / or boot AROS from KS early boot menu?

Or some convenient method like one introduced for FreeMINT?

Same question will be actual for Linux m68k once possible.
