Yes maybe some TV are "fakes" ?

Actually the irony here is the cheaper the TV and more the off name Chinese brand TVs the better they supported 50hz/pal here in the states, it was the big name / top brands that apparently stripped support in the US/NA.

A TV vendor can legally not strip support for PAL@50
A brand TV vendor will never do this - as it would loose the right to use the DIGITAL-VIDEO logo!

I have tested many many many TVs and monitors during the development of V4.
My personal experience is the following:
The chinese cheap TV eat often any signal - even broken and invalid signals.

Many high end TVs or better brands like SAMSUNG, have very strick sanity checks on the signal.
Those TVS are then "picky".

If your computer claims to send "PAL@50" but in reality sends "PAL@51" then this is a "bug" bit the chinese cheap TV will not care - while the SAMSUNG TV will notice this and not show the "invalid" signal.

My personal experience is:
"unclean signal = problems with some TV"
but if you do the signal right = all TV show it.

Holy smokes :) That's a damn fine looking system.

It looks way better than modern tile based/flat interfaces.

The usual answer of peoples thinking they have a better point of view and others don't care..

I think the Vampire is a great acheivement and this case is not from the same level.
So, when I said that I though that was for fun I really think that was something homemade by Gunnar to put his V4 prototype inside to show a "WIP" design, and not something expected to be sold as it. Sure, I'm free to by another case, but this sound more like a "shut up" to me... Very disapointed by you.

I'm not sure I understand you correct.

The Vampire metal case, is a very good quality anodised aluminium case.
Its not homemade but from  professional case manufacturer.
Maybe this it does not look like this on my poor pictures.

Not sure if he's looking at the same case, I know there are some others that made their own, but if it's the one earlier in this thread, it looks pretty nice to me.

Im one of those people that doesnt care about blingy cases. I really like the minimalistic and small impact case that Gunnar showed.
Very portable and you can "hide it"/use it anyhwere.

I obviously understand that people have different prefrences, depending on what they plan to do with the V4 Standalone. Especially if they can forsee adding hardware expansions.

But as a default option it looks perfect.

Since you are dissapointed with Mike, what are your spesific needs and issues?

This was just an old problem that I mentioned - most modern LCDs can only handle 60 Hz, so they will need to interpolate somehow a 50 Hz signal.

  Not true.
All modern TVs in Europe perfectly support 50Hz.
But you have to give them a "proper" input signal.

Maybe your bad experience is based on using bad input signals.

Yes, this is then one advantage that you should mention for Vampire (that it generates video output signal which is directly compatible with modern displays).

I'm using an A1200 as my name says, and it has just got an RGB output (Also Composite and RF, but these are not worth much). You can use various converters here, like SCART- hdmi, or RGB-VGA, RGB-SCART, but these don't usually work too well with modern LCDs. The static image quality may be good, but scrolling doesn't usually look smooth. SCART- hdmi  introduces lag. Then there are also some too expensive custom converters like Indivision.
