Thanks for confirm that I was able to reproduce your report. We need to look this deeper now.

I know that it is just a release candidate, but is it normal that vcontrol bi doesn't give any information about the board with this release?
Also the core information vcontrol co shows rev 5851 x11 c7gk (gold2.11) while vcontrol cp shows x12 core speed.
The bootup screen shows 2.12 (x11)

Yes, that's normal. Only flasher EXE can update version string, which VControl reads back. Flashing a JIC does not update it.

This is great, always exited about new core updates, even the previous 2.11 works very well. Finally an x12 core again,,, any chance to let us download an x13 core, just for fun to check who got a board that handles it stable?

We must first solve a few of the bugs which are reported (thank you for the feedback) and actually some of them have already been debugged to wait for fix.

@Simo There is a problem with the V2. 12. I try to describe it as accurately as possible. For the first time Gold2.12 X10 X11 and X12 runs well with me. Also Gold2. 11 X11 runs well. There is only one problem with video playback. Every time I have GoldCore 2.12, X11 or X12 installed and play a video, the system freezes after a few seconds completely. I have to turn off the Amiga. My Amiga 600 have a Vampire 2 installed
Video playback works well with GoldCore 2.11 X11 and GoldCore 2.12 X10. I have seen the behavior with Riva 0.53 and 0.54. In addition, with Coffin R54 and R55. So it is something broken in GoldCore 2.12 X11 and X12

Thanks for the testing! In some cases, recapping Amiga + PSU and making a power mod for the Vampire might help higher CPU clock multipliers to run more stable.

Each core version is more demanding than the previous one, so this is the very reason that Gold2.12 testing needs to be done with the x10 ratio only.

As well explained, you need more power and recapping stability, or you have to limit yourself to 2.12+ x10 cores.

Simply said, there is no guarantee x11 and faster cores will work well in every Vamp, especially early v2 (before v2.1) models that havent been modded - newer versions push FPGA to its limits, plus the faster cores draw more power.

Amiga board also needs care, not only Vamp to make it happen. Even then you will have to go x11+/testing etc. until you find speed/stability optimal thing. There are no bugs in cores that would produce effects you describe, they are alerts of system instability (of not having recapped Amiga/enough power).

Get a Decent PSU - I cant state that enough! also make sure the vamp is fastened down nice and tight!!! I find after a couple of hours continuous use i will have a random crash followed by a green screen on reset... the temp changes causes things to shrink/expand and makes the Vamp rise of the cpu slightly so I give it a little push and its good to go again! just something to be aware of (i never screw my 600 together)

That can't be with me. My Amiga 600 and original PSU are recapped. The V2 got fixes and I got a Apower PSU with much more power. GOLD2. 11 X11 works without any problems and videoplayback works well too. I think that the IDE in GoldCore 2.12
X11 and X12 is to fast and caused the freeze. GoldCore 2.12 X12 works here well, only videoplayback is not working

Nice to hear. As much as I remember, "original" A600/A1200 PSU gives quite little power and any accel card or larger power hungry HDD required additional power source. I had even external ATX PSU for CDROM and DVD on A1200. But let others speak did they need additional PSU.

  @Vojin
He has also a more powerful PSU.

On my A600 the videos work very well with the 2.12 x12 core. In general is the video performance much better compared to the older cores - no stuttering at all. Hats off!

Thanks Simo for the update info.

A question about auto Turtle and WHDLoad:

Is "ExpChip" tooltype meant to be used in conjunction  with "NoCache" or is it used instead of it, because I have noticed issues when both are used together.

There is no way to disable real caches from 68080 CPU, because of its design, i.e. they are always permanently on. Therefore, cache control is used only as turtlemode switch. Also writing/reading chipmem does not enable autoturtle, it only kicks-in when PC is chipmem area.

NoCache option does not have any effect when ExpChip is selected, because turtlemode is already enabled with ExpChip.

Difference of these two ways to enable turtlemode is that WHDLoad slavefile or game/demo can enable caches back, when NoCache is only selected. When ExpChip is selected slave have no control for turtle because game/demo is loaded into chipmem area, and as long as game/demo is executed in that area autoturtle is permanently enabled.

Thanks for the clarification.

So tested a couple of games in WHDLoad with only "ExpChip" set:

Lotus 2: Crashes at random points on second or third track in 2 player mode.To reproduce, must use "TURPENTINE" cheat mode and start and complete first track and then move onto the next track.

The Ultimate Ride: When trying to start a race, game freezes with black screen.

Interphase: The usual problem of it not starting at all. This game will probably never get fixed.

Days of Thunder: Game crashes when starting a race and accelerating quickly in your car.

I have some problems with demos (Whdload) - core 2.12rc3 e.g. Spaceballs - 9fingers or TRSI - We will smash You. They run too fast and the music is distorted. No issues in 2.11.

Hi,
even with NoCache and/or ExpChip as defined tooltype?

tip:
Whdload Expert mode can be enable from inside the Whdload.prefs.
This is helpful as the Splashscreen shows options like Nocache, ExpChip among others.
