Well, this was only mention, and not something immediate, more like planned.

To clarify some questions.
The APOLLO Team is working on / evaluating an 3D accelerator. From 5000 foot height, the concept can be described as similar to the concept of the VOODOO. But its NOT a VOODOO remake.
The APOLLO 3D unit has a number of differences to the old VOODOO which we regards as better or improvements.
We started work on demo / demo game atm.

Hi
Will the Vampire likely get a 3D acceleration system added like a fpga 3DFX chip or similar. Is there room on the standalone FPGA for such a addon.
Best of my understanding, V4 could only provide such space incl. standalone. But I dont expect it to be "release feature", more like hard FPU was added later on V2.

Little by little vampire will evolve. On a different note does current vampire support CDrom out of the box or does it still need something like idefix to get cdrom support.

Still needs the fix

CD32 had the CD controller hardware built into the AKIKO chip. No other Amiga has that chip.

IDEfix runs fine without a license if you don't mind the nagware alerts and you can find a serial number for it if you just Google it or look around on EAB.
As for CD32 emulation there's a perfectly good solution that already exists for CD32 emulation on existing Amigas and is included in this archive: EXTERNAL LINK I'm pretty sure the emulator also works with Elbox's EIDE'99 software pack too.
Yes, a Kickstart ROM that has CD support baked in would be nice but since there are already software solutions for reading CD's I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for someone to create a custom ROM.
