Not  Vampire or Apollo, but important for the Future of Amiga.

Currently there is some trouble between them and individual computers / jens schönfeld. Not nice to read.

Yes and unfortunately our beloved Amiga suffers. I hope they can work it out.

It is really good to see someone try to help and I think a lot of Stephen and I hope he is successful. I have been impressed by what he is trying to do for the Amiga community with his Checkmate case and what others are and have also done. That is one reason I bought a Vampire V2 a500 and am looking forward to the V4. I think it will go very nicely inside the Checkmate A1500 plus case along with a Raspberry Pi and using Steves Siamese Software.
Hopefully all these developers can work out their differences and come together to develop some really amazing products and move the Amiga out of the shadows.
There is an old saying>
United we stand, divided we fall.

I hope we become United for the Amiga's future

I appreciate any/all development (SW and HW) for AMIGA good.
We encourage development and offer our support.
We also offered Jens before our support in regards of making new/better Accelerator cards using 68080 cores.
Its saddening that Jens Schönfeld might want to "throw the towel".

But I don't see any fault of Cloanto here.
And I see no reason to put blame on them.

I fired off a question to Steve to see if he would considering releasing the source code to the Apollo Team or to the world as open source.  High hopes I know, but who knows.

it seems Jens S. has made a kind of cooperation with Hyperion against Cloanto and both are now in a bad position. I see nothing bad about Cloanto, the war was not started by them.

Regarding to open source amigaos I remember Cloanto writing they would be willling to do that. There will be a interview soon and I assume that this will be one of the questions.

I think I'm going to go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for this all to blow over.

Nice and interesting talk.

I haven't seen or heard Battilana talk. But he seems to be a decent guy.
It's really unfortunate this law shit.

Why can't every party "Live and let live".

Because money is involved and someone thinks they can still make a profitable surplus on the bones of the amiga.

not only...

when Ben H. was involved with Aeon he used money from that company to finance legal expenses he needed in the battle between Amiga Inc. and Hyperion. I assume there is not much trust left between Trevor D. and Ben H.

Beside "betrayal" of some joint account, it seems it made x1000 be more delayed or even less available. That was the end real world effect. (Trevor: "As a result, A-EON did not have enough money to pay Varisys for Nemo 2.0 programme").

In other news, seems Steven Solie is out of job (no more smileys?). What is far more intriguing is who will be the new "OS4 development team leader/master support forum moderator" or similar.

(Steven: "I have been fired as "Team Lead." This was not really unexpected given my lackluster performance and conflicts with the current management team of late.

Unexpectedly, I have also been fired as a core developer. I was told, "...things need to change drastically."

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ben Hermans for providing me the opportunity to work as a core developer and then team lead. Together, we produced many quality releases and updates for our eager customers.

Also a huge thank you to all the developers, beta testers, translators, business partners, etc. that I have had the pleasure to work with as team lead. It was a pleasure.

Steven Solie
Ex-AmigaOS Development Team Lead

P.S. By the way, I made up my own title... ")

OS4 development has been arguably stagnant if not dead for years.  Ssolie's departure is just another nail in the coffin.  Ben spent all the money, trust and talent litigating instead of innovating.  I expect that we will continue to see more of the same from Hyperion, if it survives, which in terms of OS4 is a whole lot of nothing, and a whole lot more scandalous behavior otherwise.  Hyperion would be better served selling its story to a television soap opera for cash to remain afloat than conducting further OS development.  Everything that Ben and Hyperion touches turns to sh@t.

Seems so true, even the partners dont end well. Worms and Sin are unrealised licenses too, not to mention promise of TW update: "Timberwolf is the AmigaOS port of Mozilla’s Firefox browser. Currently, the code is based on Firefox 4.0.1, but we’re working on bringing it up to the latest build (18.0.1 at the time of writing, although 19.x is more likely)."

Too bad, Timberwolf had a decent HTML score and was almost usable at the time.

A viable milking scheme could be a backport of some OS4 feats to 68k, an OS 3.2 (if legally possible) + Enhancer features (OS 3.3?). No SMP, No multiuser, no real 3D, no office, no browser, no enhanced printer support.

  Ah, Amiga soap operas.

Timberwolf was a private project done by the Frieden brothers, not a Hyperion project. They only mentioned it on the amigaos website as far as I remember. Up-to-date browser is a problem anyway because it is never done with a one-time port, it is in steady development so the amiga versions would need to be steady updated too. In my view it should be a common project of the whole platform, if everyone try to do it on your own it will fail.

True, but no such arrangement was ever on horizon. It would be great if a V4 Vamp could be donated to Mozzila and somewhat m68k becomes legal branch. It could work on OS4 and MOS, and m68k has ability of being software common ground, abeit being emulated on PPC NG branch.

On milking schemes - Shogo for OS4 magically appeared as digital download, "just" 15 euros for decades old conversion. Steam worth 10e. Competitive.
