AMIGA OS 3.1 / 3.5 / 3.9 runs fine.
MAC OS 7.x and 8.1 runs fine.

Now it would be nice to run ATARI TOS.

Anyone experienced in running ATARI TOS on AMIGA, who likes to show us how?

Head over to the latest EMUTOS at:

  EXTERNAL LINK
Here you'll find even a kickstart replacement for Amiga.

This is a very interesting project. I guess very well suited
  for the Vampire2 ;-)

Just for absolute bragging rights; it would be cool to be able to run the NeXTcube + OS too!!!

This would be fabulous as the ATARI ST range, especially the falcon was a nice machine.

Some words to said how impressive is this project I follow it for some month now.

I'm not an Amiga user but Atari user, so for the moment the vampire board not interest me but if one day a standalone version is available I will be very happy to order one and do development on it to continue my work on system.

You can find information regarding Emutos on Facebook and last information report is Emutos running under winUAE and Mint running.

Thanks for your job

Olivier

Hi Olivier Landemarre,

A standalone is coming out in about 3 to 6 months.

Read my comment here CLICK HERE (near bottom) about it.

I think its likely that the Apollo card for the Amiga-500 can also work in an ATARI ST.

Olivier would I be right in thinking that accelerator usage on the ST was not as common as it is on the Amiga due to the use of soldered in 68000 CPUs and the wide variety of motherboard layouts with nearby obstructions on some models (shifter RF can, floppy drive, keyboard, RF top sheild, case edges/ports, internal PSU etc). Unlike the Amiga A500 with it's trapdoor memory slot and full system bus edge connector the ST wasn't designed for upgrading of CPU/memory. So they are closer to the A600 in design ethos. It seems the most common accelerators where just 16MHz 68000 hacks.

I doubt the Atarians appreciate such gift...

My Atari Mega STE sitting next to my Amiga 1200 would love an Apollo card :).

Remember, Atari had two generations of Jay Miner machines before the Amiga :)..  Sadly the ST wasn't one of them.

Hello,

I'm not interested by this solution, I have no more Atari for 20 years, in 1995 I prefer buy an old 68K Mac and put MagicMac on it and it was far the best Atari I never use, it was so fast compare to MacOS! Now I continue to develop on PC with Aranym emulator, that give a very modern Atari and continue modernize the system rewriting from scratch the AES layer. It's time for me to go back to hardware and have a full new Atari system but up to now I not see very interesting solution at my point of view, up I discover this project, and this project is really unbelievable.

If I want put a link what should I do?

Just put the URL in your post, with at least a space or carriage return before and after it. It becomes an "EXTERNAL LINK" hyperlink to the page you want guys to visit.

What about MTX (memotech MTX 512) emulation. ?

Anyone got a working setup with hardfile to emulate a *modern* Atari ?

I can do something for this, but I will not be able to test it.

I see 2 points not in agreement with the "modern" term:

- As I know Emutos video driver for Amiga is only in black and white and we have not yet other driver
- Free Desktop applications are quite old and not sexy at all :-(

An idea  of an Atari system today:

I suspect existing Amiga emulations of the Atari ST and Apple Mac simply patch the ROM with replacement routines to use the Amiga hardware instead of the absent native hardware. For the Mac this probably isn't an issue as I suspect almost all software was written to use the OS. For the ST however most games likely hit the hardware directly. The ST ROM includes the desktop I believe and is customised for each language used in the countries where it was sold making patching the various versions a lot of work.

I don't know if the Apollo core on the Vampire 2 would be fast enough to run a full system emulation of the ST hardware by porting one of the Windows emulators over to the Amiga.

I wonder if an implementation of the Atari ST chip set in the core could coexist with the Amiga chip set? It would make an interesting addition to SAGA.

Atari STE series have the same square 68000 proccesor like an Amiga 600, and Atari ST series have the same rectangular 68000 than an Amiga 500 but soldered on board without socket.

If it's possible adapt core to work with Atari ST / STE machines, Vampire 500 will be compatible with Atari ST / Mega ST series and Vampire 600 will be compatible with Atari STE / MegaSTE series.
