Yay! Really hoping the power change provides a straightforward plug in way to power CD/hard drives that need +-12V rather than just 5V. That was a huge oversight IMO...

Yeah, I could live without ethernet initially so long as other stuff works enough to get the machine up and running. Get them out and in our hands and then finalize stuff like Ethernet and IO ports and such.

So can't wait for this!!

The statement about moving away from miniUSB likely means switching microUSB or USB C. Sourcing 12V for CD/HDD devices is a trivial and there are easy solutions for it.

Should go to USB C as that is the latest. We must keep forging forward. Sticking with old gear is part of what nearly killed the Amiga.

Please NOT MicroUSB. That one is so fragile... I have a lot of bad experience with this on many different devices. Micro-USB is one of the worst connectors ever.

If USB-C is as reliable as Apple's Lightning connector, then go for this. If not, stay at Mini-USB. 12V is really not necessary, nobody wants to add drives to new Amiga/ATARI compatible computers based on anything else than flash memory.

Ps: My personal wish for 2019 to the Apollo team: Please help Ingo to get Vamp flying in real ST. There seems still be some issues regarding 68000 bus protocol, handling interrupts and bus error.

MiniUSB (5'000 insertion cycles) is far more fragile than microUSB (10'000 insertion cycles). But that's only on the connector part.

Weak and cheap cables will probably always shorten the cable and connector lifespan, as they would with any connector type.

USB type C requires an additional power delivery controller and is not a "simple" mechanical change.

Might be rated for more insertion cycles, but in my experience it's a more fragile connector for getting snapped off while inside the socket when getting bumped. There just isn't much material there, so it's quite easy to snap the tip off if you accidentally drop or place something heavy on the cable at the connector.

And you're wrong about the 12V. *YOU* might not want to have any other drives, but I want to be able to add a CD drive inside a case with the Vampire without having to have a 2nd power supply or a nightmare of adaptors (although I think I might have a solution figured out using Ian Stedmann's PicoPower-> Amiga adaptor since those PPower units have an old style 4 pin Molex drive power cable off them...) There's been mention of possibly in the future having one of the IO ports be set up to support a floppy drive (or Gotek) which I'm sure some folks would want to take advantage of.

The point is, going with a 5V only power solution really limits things.  (Again, my opinion, you're welcome to your own...)

There are plenty of power supply solutions that provide 12 and 5v in a single source. Mean Well for example has various power supplies that do this and already used commonly enough to provide power for classic Amigas with failing stock supplies. You're buying a niche device that requires a lot of setup, something simple like solutioning a power supply is one of the least issues you will have.

What about the shown 68060 MMU? Is it a misreading or did you guys implement a compatibility layer?

I believe Amiga dealers will be able to install whatever user wishes are. Mine are ... ApolloOS, CLean OS 3.9+drivers+AmiKit X  and m68k Linux when and if possible or AROS m68k on SSD and SD Card. For the price of his work, OS 3.9 and AmiKit X minus Rabbit Hole.

Similarly, once could order digital OS 3.1.4 and A1200 KS and dealer could install it with SAGA drivers on top, even by doing it in UAE in transefering to a card, and then to Standalone. Plus that P96 update.

Salutations, RTC and a bit higher clock to go public!

I would also opt for some alternate MMU enabled core later, even for speed penalty or paid download.

Hoping for a new update soon... From the outside we "impatients" perceive silence as lack of progress :) Just hoping development is not hindered by all the recent Amiga legal drama. Or is there something brewing between Apollo and the new Amiga owners...

Or maybe real workers spend their time working,
and not talking all day on facebook.

So silence could also mean = busy coding.

Intelligent response. Another thing not to expect from Master Gunnar. :) Keep up the good work.

Good to hear Gunnar. We all know that the Apolloteam is working hard.
Just one question. Will Vampir V2 end with Core 2.11, or are you still working on upgrades ? Dont geht me wrong, i Love my amiga 1000 with Vampire 500 v2 and Core 2.11 but a half mb chipram is a problem for a lot of programs.
