is it still the whole 32gb to download each time ?
there's no one able to make a script in amiga community ?
it's easy, no need to even compare anything just copy and overwrite targets.

the responsibility of choosing what to include in an update is on the maintainer of "coffin_OS". a dumb script like what i suggest could do it as a first version.

it could get better with time if needed.
downloading 100mb worth of update and overwriting previous version of files still beats having to download 32gb, and 'burn it on CF card each time.

Sonmeone would need to bite the bullet and host Coffin update server. I believe Coffin does provide basics for software update back in few versions.

other possible Amiga way out is Grunch like (or AmigaOS 4 update lister server) that would update just the few new tools of changelog and bump the version number.

The only way Coffin can be really a great choice of OS if there is Coffin Update like Amikit Update would or windows 10 or any other OS does. It automatically detects new version and prompt the user do you wish to update, you click yes...it downloads the contents...extract and update correctly and then request a reboot to take effect. The computer reboots with the new updates. Your background, theme, files, documents, saved games, contents all unchanged and untouched.

one of the previous problems is that the actual disk filesystem used was updated as well. this required a complete wipe and reload with the new version.

i'm hopefull that future updates are easier in this regard, but yes, it is another 16gig .rar file that unpacks to a 32gig image. what you do with it from then is up to you

I've got a static IP and since I last replied to this thread I've uploaded about 160 gig. im happy to host, but i'll need to renew my security cert.

no need for anything more.
right now coffin is distributed through torrents, right ?

then nothing more is needed than just a good filename, like:
"coffin_54_extra.torrent" (full data partition 31.8 gb)
"coffin_54_extra_update_1.torrent" (data parition update xxx mb

"coffin_54_system.torrent" (system partition only, just 100 mb)
"coffin_54_system_update_1.torrent" (update 1, just 100 mb)

people can have spare hdd or CF cards, they most usually do anyway.
just in case their main disk fails. they can manage their own data themselves. i think most amigans are adults by now ? ;)
the most important thing is the system partition, with all vampire related settings and drivers. no need for the whole 32gb for that.

Are there any other images out there?

I can probably dig out some of the older images. I don't have a comprehensive library, but i'm pretty sure I got 53, 52, 51, 48 and 47...

I'll see if I can get them rar'd up and torrents created if that helps?

  Yes, there are lower seeding
  ApolloOS_CF32GB_r43P_fixed  (2.5 core days)
  and  coffin_r49p_32gb.rar (about 2.9+).

  If you need em for any reasons, contact me at rasvoja gmail.com
  will send you *.torrent files

  Mind its slower to download them then newer ones due to low seed.

  Yes, Coffin uses best old school FS, PFS and as it is a bit updated over time, it gets included and MUST be re-imaged.

  Hope update mechanism or archives will be avail one day.

Agreed, but Major diff is there are companies beyond AmiKit, AmigaForever, AmigaOS 4 with update servers, and we dont have that.

AmiKit X for Vampire could be a solution, but not announced and to best of my knowlege, Jan does not have a Vamp.

Software wise, Grunch for OS3 is best solution.

However, Amiga development has became so fragmented and non-standardized (and non existing) that most of developments remain
unregistered to OS4 Updater / Grunch ... even there, and way more
here in OS3 area. Seems best updates - are collected by Coffin maintainer.

============
Requirements
============

coffin r54 requires at least GOLD2.11 core to run

=====================
  Backup & Restore tool
  =====================

  coffin has a Backup&Restore tool that will backup all your personnal settings and all files included in "DH1:My Files". This tool is useful when upgrading to a new coffin version without losing all your settings.
  ===========
  Limitations
  ===========

  1) Roadshow is bundled as DEMO and will popup a nagscreen after a couple of minutes. You are highly encouraged to buy the full version which is still developped and supported. Roadshow has been proven to be the fastest Amiga TCP/IP stack on 68k and fully DHCP compliant.

  If you decide to buy it, DO NOT RUN its installer, just copy included bsdsocket.library to LIBS:

  2) MUI 3.8 is still available as commercial product and can be bought. Throw your MUI.key to S: and enjoy.
