Well, it's actually an Amiga emulator packaged inside a keyboard and is most likely an Android based SBC as it uses UAE for the Amiga emulation.  Although it says it will function as a standalone USB keyboard it wouldn't make much sense to connect it to a Vampire since the Vampire is already capable of running Amiga software. I'll save my money and just use a standard USB keyboard as this thing will most likely cost 4-5 times more than a regular keyboard.

The emulator frontend looks clean.

I think such WHDLoad launcher software could be done for Vampire with help of SAGA AMMX performance

I dont care about the Emulation. The Keyboard is what i want.
And dont talk about the Money. If i want a cheap Computer Amiga is the wrong base.

Would be nice to see how much space there is in the PSU brick.
If the V4 fits in there, I think it's a nice solution.

Yes, this looks like an awesome package for the standalone. Please collaborate guys!!!

The emulation front end looks sort of OpenRetro Game Database - like, so no idea whether this is already a hint of what the device UI will look like.

I agree. The only thing I like about this project is the awesome case design. That is a really nice modern progression from the A1200 design. The emulation part I couldn't care less about, real hardware is what interests me.

Man, this would be such a terrific collaboration if this case were designed to take the Vampire V4 standalone (and any future Vampires). I really wish this could happen, that is the future of Amiga right there!

I prefer the hub use of ex PSU and modernizing tank mouse last supplied with A600 too.

So will a Vampire standalone fit in this?

Its not planned, but since they seem to be still in kind of design phase, maybe is possible. Dont forget the SSD, slim DVD, some internal cables and SDCard in slot ;-)

While a500 replacement case campaign has not reached its goal yet (39% now), its interesting to note 104 Vampire packs are sold while e.g. cheapest classic offer has 106 claimed. If it succeeds it will really be due to "Vampire readiness".

A 1200 case remodelled just for the Vampire Standalone would be very desirable.

This new Kickstarter project shows its possible.

That would be great, but since standalone is not yet, we might run out of luck being "just in between kickstarters", or better to say, after. Will standalone release lead to similar projects, remain to be seen.

a500 KS is not near completition, and neither is any other.

True, but the demand is there.

Remodelled Vampire Standalone 1200 case with a slimline cd slot replacing the PCMCIA slot and space inside for some sort of PICO PSU and im in.

Somewhere between £100 - £130.

The 500 case is cool, but a tad large - and i have more of an emotional attachment to my 1200 than to my long since sold 500.

The one thing I don't like about this concept is the relegating of the Amiga to console status by means of a games front end, much like the mini NES and mini SNES - add to the fact it's just software emulation, which for me, is uninteresting.

The Amiga is so much more than just a console, it's a computer. Yes games play a huge part of my Amiga experience but it's NOT the only thing. My usage goes beyond that. This Amiga Model X would be so much more interesting if it included actual hardware such as the Vampire and the ability to install and use a full fledged Amiga OS.

Having said that, DAMN that keyboard looks good! I love it! It would be nice if they got a license to include the Amiga logo on it.

As far as I understood the original FB post, the keyboard itself is just USB so it should work with any device that will work with usb keyboards..

The emulator is in the fake power brick (which actually is a very clever way to package this .. unique even) .. and by the looks , it seems to be a Raspberry Pi .. or at least that was the object they used for their mockups.

I would be very interested in the keyboard and mouse only .. hopefully if they do go ahead they will make those items (minus the emulator hardware box) available.

I dont see the need for a "CD ROM" drive in 2018 .. just put everything on a flash drive.. why waste the space, cost and resources on something as antiquated as a cd rom device. Id be just fine if they kept the keyboard as just a keyboard with a couple usb ports on the back as pictured (and having the 9 pin connectors is a plus) but I think trying to cram and antique device like a cd rom drive in too is a huge step backwards.

Backups on DVD, DVD/CD media, OS Boot

If the keyboard is just the keyboard with connectors, that makes it easier, provided it ever comes to existence for sales. In any case if they live, they could sell keyboard + mouse separately OR we could get it and leave brick alone (or mod it?). We ll see how much praise from communit existing entities they will get. The name might come bitchy, even KS license should not be hard to get.

Power brick idea is nice, but could they fit Vampire there is question for them to answer. .

A500 case with some fitted keyboard might be not so good looking but easier solution for now, and at least with set date if campaign succeeds.

Leaving only USB and LAN as "media/connections" beside DIGITAL-VIDEO would mean we would also need good LAN/USB drivers first. And will be SDcard dependent as HDD, so large and fast cards there.

Such frontend for best Amiga games would be nice :-) Not for "too many", like they try :-)

Oh c'mon please. The Vampire comes with both ethernet and USB right? No need for totally outdated bulky optical drive. Backup to NAS, network share or USB drive. And even the IMO too big for vampire new A500 cases don't have a dedicated optical drive mount/bracket/opening.

And if they offer a standalone with these physical ports you would expect drivers to be released out of the box or soon after, why else put these ports on it?

I would love to see the both teams reach out to each other and see whether or not this brick can be made to fit a standalone vampire. If the thing is constructed in two parts like in the renders, they can come up with 2 variants of the bottom half, one for their original planned Rasp Pi - like emulation and another variant to fit the Vampire standalone.
