I saw the video. It does look interesting. More case designs for classic Amigas and Amiga + Vampire are always welcome! Variety is a good thing.

i dont like the overhanging back, but other than that i think its well tought out, functional and truly aligned with the legacy aesthetic concept.

Both Alinea and Amigakit, and maybe other dealers, are selling PCMCIA right angle adapters which should see you right.

I know about the Right angle connectors but i have a 3com 3C589D which works really well but it would be tight fit with the RJ45 tail adaptor

I think the plan is to have a slot in the metal case for the 1200/600 version(s) to allow WiFi adaptors to work and access to CF adaptors etc. Not sure if the slot will also be there for the 500 or other configurations (with plug/blanking plate) or if alternative metal work will be available without any side slot.

Hopefully someone will invest similar effort in a mini case designed specifically for the standalone.

Looks very nice indeed. I always liked the A3000 design and while this looks very much like it, it was thoughtfully updated and moved 20 years into the future. :-)

If this was ever manufactured, I'd consider getting one although I doubt there is any way to manufacture this without it becoming excessively expensive..

The Cryorig Taku seems to becoming a reality and while not exactly a copy of the old design, it does share some concepts with the A1000:

It might be a good fit for a Vampire Standalone board.

The Taku is a beautiful case but the cost is as much if not the same as a vampire board itself.. Hopefully someone comes out with a slightly cheaper version. It's simply too costly..

Nice revisit of time of PC desktop cases, clean and modern design. Apple priced really. However, Elbox BlackBox Tower is also costly

Now, I am starting to think Lorianos X500 offered much for its price.

And dont forget team already donated standalone board to
makers of A1200 new molds

I wonder is it this - avail again late this year
EXTERNAL LINK
Its cheap - but has no keyboard (separate KS for that?)

On Checkmate - never had A2000/3000/4000, like the Amiga desktop design case, sounds interesting too.

------------

Depends what will fit Vamps best and which "form factor" one likes the most.

Biggest downer is strange orientation of standalone ports, I wonder how that will fit any of these.

In the end, teams clean small case, if comes cheap, might come handy for poorer part of the world. And hopefully will fit ports right. Not too many - if some miniPSU could feet inside just 2 USBs, 2 DB9 and LAN if I remember it correctly.

Well, it is a very limited production run so it is bound to be on the costly side.

Stephen mentioned around $150 which isn't too bad. That could change as he gets closer to production.

Considering other options, that is good price for Checkmate.

Could be the one if a way to fit Vamps standalone properly is found.

This article quotes double the price, $299, and it sounds like it is the final price:

$150 would be a bargain if you ask me. :-)

Edit: I see that you were likely talking about the Checkmate refresh and not the Taku - my bad. If the build quality of the Checkmate is good (better than your average 3D printed piece), then $150 is a good price.

I was referring to Stephen Jones Amiga 3000 derivative. He hopes that will come in around $150

There is a new FB group about it, and I ve got two answers
I believe might interest the others:

Q: Will Checkmate be avail after the Kickstarter!

A:Stephen Jones a) I will do them in batches but yes they will be available after Kickstarter at a slightly higher price.

Q: How will Standalone Vamp fit, based on PDF dimensions and ports?

A:It will fit fine, but will need a few extension cables. Once I have one it will be finished in the design.

Stephen just mentioned today that it would be possible to have to systems in the case. Always a combination with the RPI or standalone.
Wow imagine an A600,A500,A1200 together with an Vampire standalone :)

Nope. I have to disapoint you, it doesnt work that way. Its one board system, but can fit Classic+v2 Vamp OR mb and Pi due to small dimensions.

---------------- From dedicated FB group -----------------------

Brian Johnston What would be extremely impressive is if you could build a case to house the A500 AND A1200 boards together and be able to use them at the same time with a switch to change keyboard / mouse inputs between them, I know it's pie in the sky stuff but you never know 😉

Stephen Jones  To be clear, apart from adding a Pi, or attached vampire in as well only one motherboard at a time.

Two systems in the case?

System 1: A500 + V500

System 2: V4 standalone

It could work ;)
