And what about the standalone V4? Is the plan to deliver first standalones to dealers this month still valid?

I think that standalone will be out next year. Standalone was not announced to be ready for this year. Maybe the 500 v4, let's see..

The simple way I see it now,v4 exists but is new and needs a core tweaking, bugfixing and step by step releases. Something like v2 was with its earliest releases, its just good luck and planning it standalone should start with GOLD3 and full FPU :-) And new DDR5 RAM to give the sweetest performance of the memory controller.

At present times 500 v4 is only one listed as product, but not even that one on sale, just likely to go first due to recent 500 v2 good experiences. But its not all in hardware itself, much is in the FPGA core :-)

GOLD 2.7 and 3 releases and fixes are needed for standalone to be operational at all, so first we have to live through that. Plus additional drivers and quirks for standalone edit.

In my lucky guess that moves standalone to Q1 2018, Q2 at worse.

After that, all other v4 models incl. 1200 should be matter of connector and smaller core tweaks.

However, nothing like some official report & plans.

One sneaky detail from last month report was that 2.7 core was
supposed to be first released for V4 also, so its a good luck charm of progress, even if its not revolutionary.

If Gold 2.7 contains all the FPU improvements we have been seeing, it WILL be revolutionary (in my book). :) And hey, good luck charms are fine too!

By way it seems now, all v2 FPU improved (and v4 earlybird) results should be "2.7 performance" (and hence end of FPU saga) while core3 are just "sweetening" all-over-HDMI, AGA everywhere and Pamela sound stuff :-)

Or in other words, Quake-for-all-as-seen-in-shows and other non-AGA FPU stuff is ON :-) I wonder will it mean some improved edit of Apollo and AmiKit real for Vamp

Note that Apollo Team is still aiming at end of the year to send first batch of Vampire V4 to resellers if our wives, children, cats or unicorns allow us to ;-)

Any update regarding this point?

All the reports are published early next month. Since January is kind- of-holiday-month I dont expect much of news.

But I ll put my 2018 expectations that I hope are realistic.

Its quite obvious that 2.7 release has been delayed to its ironing and I expect that to be the news of Q1. It was also announced V4 Vamps will be first out with 2.7 core and Vampire 500 V4 seems quite ready (minus LAN and USB drivers) so I expect that to be first V4 related news.

After that (lets say Q2) I expect GOLD3 core and roll of many Vampire V4 models, connectors etc. that was supposed to be december 2017 to Q1 2018. So delay isnt that big in Amiga time and compared to the others.

On software front, both Hyperion updated OS 3.1 and AmiKit Real Vampire edition as separate archive / ApolloOS R44+ with FPU software could be expected (and with Tukos iconset).

Things are obviously being worked on :-)
